The Longacres Riding Camp is not directly and actively in the horse sale business. Our own show horses are almost never for sale because we put so much time into finding and training horses to be suitable for children to take to horse shows.

But we have many contacts in the horse world and often have nice horses at Longacres on consignment to be sold.

We are also fortunate in having experienced and ethical partner stables in the South Towns Summer Series horse show circuit. We know these people well and do a lot of business with them. If you are looking for a horse to buy, we confidently recommend the following stables and trainers. You are welcome to contact them directly to see if they might have a suitable horse for you. You can deal exclusively with any of the following with confidence. If you would like Longacres to give you advice or act as your agent in purchasing a horse one of these stables might have, we're glad to do so. We can work for you for a fee or on commission.

Horses currently for Sale at Longacres:

Every year, several promising horses are sent to Longacres for training, schooling, conditioning, and showing. Some of these horses are for sale. A benefit to potential buyers is that we often have these horses on our farm for one to three months at a time and get to know them well. If you consider a horse that is on our farm, or a horse that has recently been in training here, we'll be glad to give you our opinion of the horse's potential and discuss any special issues we might have discovered. Any unsoundness or vice is likely to surface while a horse or pony is in our program.

Our familiarity with the relatively small number of horses in our sale program can be a valuable benefit to a potential buyer.

The following horses were at Longacres during the summer of 2007:

Spice:

Spice It Up ("Spice"), is a 5yr old TB/WB cross mare out of the TB jumper mare Cinnamon Twirl, by WB stallion Everest. She is approx 15.2 with flashy white markings. - $1800.00 (priced for quick sale)

Spice has progressed well in our training program at Longacres over the summer of 2007. The horse was skittish, hard to mount, and very green in early June when she came here. She is now well broke, walk, trot, canters, jumps small jumps willingly (see pictures). She is still learning how to move at a canter, and has a tendancy to swap leads behind as she canters around a ring. She has shown improvement, but is slower than I wish to really calm down at the canter and stay on a lead comfortably. She's a pleasant ride, but not as good a mover as her more flashy sister and her very agreeable big Brother. She is priced to move for this reason.

Eva:

Little Eva is a 4yr old filly. She is a full sister to Spice and is also 15.2ish. She was Horse Show Grand Champion as a weanling at the Genesee Valley Breeders Horse Show, a show currently in its 92nd year, and a title rarely won by a weanling! She is an exceptional mover and shows great form over fences, though green. Should be a nice small junior hunter prospect. - $12,000.00

Eva is a very nice mover and shows brilliance over small fences. She walk, trot, canters, and jumps small jumps willingly. She is still leaning on the bit some and needs further work to fully settle and simply trot or canter "on the buckle". We have broken and trained her in a plain snaffle bit. We're just now putting stronger bits in her mouth for short sessions to back her off a little so she settles into a frame when she moves. She is showing promise as of this writing.

Brother:

Big Brother is just that, same pedigree as the above two. He is a 3yr old gelding, standing about 16.1. He has been easy to work with and willing in all that we've asked of him to date. - $8000.00

Brother is an absolute sweet heart to handle and ride. He is jumping all sorts of small obstacles, and does anything you ask. He is getting better at tracking straight and jumping a line without any weaving or swerving every week. Of the three young thoroughbreds here from the Reading Farm, he is my favorite. I consider him a very good buy at the $8000.00 price point. He rides calmly on trails as well as during his ring and field work.

Squirt:

"Ariegant Squirt" is a 3yr old, 13.2 h , 1/2 Arab sport pony, & is registered with HAHR. He has shown a talent for jumping with great style & consistency. "Squirt" has a friendly, willing, calm disposition & excellent  stable manners. He has 90+ days in training & has been on trails. This  eye-catching buckskin has lovely confirmation & will certainly stand out in competition.  Squirt has been line-driven in harness, but not hitched. - $7500.00

Squirt is new to Longacres in the past two weeks. The pictures speak for themselves! He is a willing and honest three year old. People from all over the country reading our website have already fallen in love with him. Very promising Pony Hunter. He moves more like a horse than a pony.

Harmony:

"Fine Harmony" is a powerful, 15.2 h, 12 yr old grey mare with lots of style. She's an American Warmblood ( Percheron X Arab) & registered with HAHR. "Harmony" has been schooled in lower level dressage &  jumping. She easily jumps over 3 ft.  In  2004, she was schooled in dressage & jumping under Darren Chaicchai. She has spent 4 summers at 2 different horse camps with my teenage son, in indoor & outdoor arenas, &  trailridden extensively. With her lovely, upright self-carriage, she appears taller than 15.2 h, has a willing disposition, and responds beautifully to light aids. She is also trained to drive & performs well in harness. - $12,000.00

Harmony has been at Longacres for two weeks, from the same farm that sent us "Squirt". We are jumping her 3' now and will show her for the first time this weekend. A very honest jumper, and a strong horse built to make the bigger rider look suitable.

Picture coming soon of Harmony
